Understand your spark plug

What is the spark plug for?

The ignition candle is an essential component of the engine, it will be at the beginning of the start-up process.

Indeed, it is implanted in the heart of each cylinder and it will create a spark that will ensure that the air/gasoline mixture is set, thus causing an explosion, which will push the piston and generate an engine time.

What happens if the spark plugs are defective?

As long as the candles are defective, then your engine will overconsume, as the burning of the air/gas mixture will not be done properly.

In addition, your engine will be more likely to pollute, and the engine may lack power.

Understand your spark plug

Your candle can present different aspects.By default, it must have a bleaching insulator, as in the previous photo, and both electrodes must not present any traces of burn.All this means that your engine turns correctly and that the candle has not been changed.

Generally, an ignition candle changes every two seasons, and they all change at the same time.

Gray insulation

When you see your preheating candles with a gray-colored insulator, it is that it is certainly an overheating.

The reasons can be different: a badly adapted candle, a ignition problem, a too poor mix, too tight segments, a bad cooling system or a bad valve setting.From time to time it may be a defective joint, especially for the 4 times, or the propeller is not suitable for weight or boat.

An insulator with an oily appearance

If your insulation has an oily look, it can come from:

- wear of valve guides, bloating or segmentation on a 4-stroke engine

- a mixture that is too rich, a poor slow adjustment, an intensive low speed use on a 2-stroke engine

If the insulation to an oily aspect, it can cause a bad contact between the electrodes and thus a bad ignition.

Deposits near the electrodes

If you see deposits form around electrodes, it probably comes from:

- the ass or pistons

- an excess of calamine in the cylinder

- oil or fuel of poor quality.

If you are accustomed to using your engine in over-regime or in a fairly violent way, it can also cause this type of deterioration.

A blackish-looking insulator

If the insulation has a blackish appearance, there may be different causes:

- badly adapted candle

- use in idle too intensive

- bad adjustment of the gap between the two electrodes

- carburation too rich

- bad condition of the wire and the candle dispenser head

- dirty air filter or flushed valves
